Summer A/C Survival Guide: How to Keep Your Car Cool in Oklahoma Heat

With Oklahoma temperatures already climbing into the high 90s and 100s, there’s nothing worse than getting into your car after it’s been sitting in the sun and realizing your air conditioning isn’t keeping up. We get it — nobody wants to spend money on A/C repairs during the summer. But a weak or failing system can quickly turn from uncomfortable to dangerous, especially on long drives or with kids in the car.

Most people think an A/C problem is simple — just “add more Freon.” Unfortunately, that approach often leads to bigger, more expensive repairs down the road.  When a customer comes in saying their air isn’t cold, we start with proper diagnostics.

A typical thorough A/C service at PROFIX includes:

• Full system evacuation and vacuum test
• Pressure testing with nitrogen to find leaks
• Replacing any faulty components (like service valves, which fail often in Oklahoma’s extreme temperatures)
• Adding the correct amount of refrigerant and oil
• Thorough leak checking and performance testing

Just last week we had a vehicle come in with warm air blowing. After pulling a deep vacuum and pressure testing, we found a significant leak at the high-side service port. We replaced the valves, recharged the system properly with 2.11 lbs of R134A, and confirmed everything was holding. The customer left with ice-cold air again — and more importantly, a system we’re confident will last.
