A/C/Radiator Cooling Fan - a key piece of your comfort this summer.

Keep Your Cool: Understanding Car A/C Cooling Fans with PROFIX Auto Repair
At PROFIX Auto Repair, we know how crucial a working air conditioning system is, especially during those scorching summer drives. A key component of your car’s A/C system is the cooling fan, which plays a vital role in keeping your vehicle’s cabin comfortable and your engine running smoothly. Let’s dive into what A/C cooling fans do, why they matter, and how PROFIX can help keep your vehicle a/c in top shape.
What Are Car A/C Cooling Fans?
Your car’s A/C cooling fan, often called a condenser fan, is responsible for pulling air through the A/C condenser to dissipate heat from the refrigerant. This process is essential for cooling the air that blows into your cabin. The cooling fan also helps regulate engine temperatures by assisting the radiator, especially when your vehicle is idling or moving slowly.
Without a properly functioning cooling fan, your A/C may blow warm air, and your engine could overheat, leading to costly repairs. At PROFIX, we’ve seen how a small component like the cooling fan can make a big difference in your driving comfort and vehicle performance.
Signs Your A/C Cooling Fan Needs Attention
How do you know if your cooling fan is on the fritz? Here are some common symptoms to watch for:
Warm A/C Air: If your A/C isn’t cooling as it should, especially at low speeds or when idling, the cooling fan might not be working properly.
Overheating Engine: A faulty fan can cause your engine to run hotter than normal, especially in traffic or hot weather and when idling.
Unusual Noises: Grinding, rattling, or humming sounds from the front of your vehicle could indicate a failing fan motor or debris obstructing the blades. The dreaded Check Engine Light. Yes, some conditions related to the fan can cause a fault and turn on the Check Engine Light.
If you’re experiencing any of these issues, it’s time to bring your car to PROFIX Auto Repair for a thorough inspection.
Why Regular Maintenance Matters
At PROFIX, we recommend including your A/C cooling fan in your routine vehicle maintenance. Dirt, debris, or wear and tear can reduce the fan’s efficiency over time. Our expert technicians will check for:
Fan Operation: Ensuring the fan kicks on when needed and runs at the correct speed.
Electrical Connections: Inspecting wiring and relays to prevent intermittent failures.
Blade Condition: Checking for cracks, chips, or obstructions that could hinder performance.Debris in your A/C condenser and/or radiator deducting the air flow and heat transfer.
A quick check-up can prevent bigger problems down the road, saving you time and money.

The rear drive unit in older Teslas model X and S have a costly design problem. Many Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles made from 2012 to 2020 have the Large Drive Unit (LDU), which has a guaranteed leaking rotor coolant seal. This seal, located around the electric motor rotor shaft, will fail and allow coolant to seep into the motor. Over time, every one of these will leak. Tesla tried various fixes to prevent this, then introduced ‘Revision U’ of the LDU in late 2022. This versionor reroutes coolant away from the rotor while continuing to cooling the inverter, stator, and gearbox through the flyover tube. This is a good and permanent fix. This issue impacts ALL rear-wheel-drive models (including non-performance RWD ones) and all Performance (P-series) dual-motor variants. The non-performance dual-motor models use a different rear unit without this flaw. While Performance and non-performance LDUs differ in their inverters, they share the same leaky seal. Only the NON-PERFORMANCE DUAL-MOTOR vehicles have the ‘small drive unit’ that’s immune to this. Newer Model 3/Y and the latest S/X do not leak coolant into the stator. If you own an impacted vehicle, make it a habit to inspect the encoder (or speed) sensor for signs of blue coolant buildup. It’s a straightforward inspection. If yours is leaking, act quickly to get it fixed before the motor floods and the car becomes undrivable. We perform this inspection for $49. Pre Revision U LDU’s can be modified to have the Revision U fix. This is known as the coolant delete. In fact it does not eliminate cooling for the whole Large Drive Unit, it only by passes the rotor cooling. Contact Philip at PROFIX Auto Repair for details and pricing. Don’t delay getting your LDU checked for $49.

Tesla Alignments: Protecting Your Tires from Uneven Wear at PROFIX Auto RepairTesla owners love the performance, but many notice tires wearing out faster than expected—especially uneven wear on the inner edges of the rear tires. This is common on Model 3, Model Y (including the newer 2026 Juniper models), Model S, and Model X. Common causes include: Heavy battery pack adding significant weight & Instant electric torque stressing tires during acceleration and regen braking. Factory alignment specs (often aggressive negative rear camber for better handling and stability) that accelerate inner-edge wear—even when "within spec." Everyday factors like potholes, curbs, or mileage causing slight drifts in toe, camber, or caster. The result? Premature bald spots on the inside, reduced tread life, noisier rides, lower efficiency, and safety concerns. A professional four-wheel alignment makes a big difference. At PROFIX Auto Repair, we use state-of-the-art equipment to check and adjust your Tesla to optimized specs—balancing performance, handling, and longer tire life. Many customers see dramatically reduced wear and better range after our service. Watch for these signs your Tesla needs attention: Uneven or rapid tire wear (especially inner rear edges) -Pulling to one side -Off-center steering wheel -Vibrations or unusual tire noise Don't let misalignment chew through another expensive set of tires. As the temperatures drop and winter sets in, many drivers start experiencing frustrating car issues that seem to appear out of nowhere. At PROFIX Auto Repair, we've seen a surge in these cold-weather-related problems every year. The good news? Most of them are preventable with a little preparation and maintenance. In this post, we'll cover the most common issues our customers bring to us during the winter months and share tips on how to avoid them. 1. Dead or Weak Battery - Cold weather is the number one enemy of car batteries. Low temperatures can reduce a battery's power by up to 50-60%, making it struggle to start your engine—especially if it's already a few years old. Tip: Get your battery tested for free at PROFIX—we can tell you if it's time for a replacement before you're stranded. 2. Low Tire Pressure - For every 10°F drop in temperature, your tires can lose about 1 PSI of air pressure. Under inflated tires reduce traction, fuel efficiency, and increase the risk of blowouts on icy roads. Tip: Check your tire pressure monthly (including the spare!) and inflate to the manufacturer's recommended levels. 3. Thickened Engine Oil - In extreme cold, conventional oil can thicken, making it harder for your engine to turn over and potentially causing unnecessary wear during startup.firestonecompleteautocare.com Tip: Switch to a lower-viscosity synthetic oil rated for winter conditions. An oil change at PROFIX can make a big difference. 4. Frozen Door Locks and HandlesMoisture gets into locks and seals, then freezes solid, leaving you locked out of your own car. Tip: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to locks and rubber seals to prevent freezing. 5. Wiper Blade Issues - Wiper blades can freeze to the windshield, become brittle, or get damaged by ice buildup, streaking or failing when you need clear visibility the most. Tip: Replace old blades with winter-specific ones and lift them off the glass when parking in snow. 6. Reduced Traction and Getting Stuck - Snow and ice turn roads into skating rinks, leading to skids or wheels spinning without forward progress. Tip: Consider winter tires for better grip, and keep a traction aid like kitty litter in your trunk.Don't Wait Until It's Too Late! Many of these issues can be caught early with a simple winter maintenance check. At PROFIX Auto Repair, our experienced technicians are here to help keep your vehicle running smoothly all season long. Schedule your winter prep appointment today—call us or book online.
