Why We Don't Install Customer-Supplied Parts

We understand why purchasing your own auto parts can seem like a good way to save money. At PROFIX Auto Repair, we only install parts that we source through our approved suppliers. This allows us to stand behind the complete repair — both the parts and the labor.

Our Policy: PROFIX Auto Repair does not install customer-supplied parts. We source the parts used in our repairs so we can verify fitment, quality, and warranty coverage before installation.

1. We Can Verify Part Quality

Replacement parts can vary significantly in quality, even when they appear identical or are listed for the same vehicle. By purchasing through suppliers we know and trust, we can select parts that meet our standards.

2. Correct Fitment Isn't Always Simple

Vehicles can use different parts depending on engine, transmission, production date, options, or manufacturing location. Online catalogs do not always identify these differences correctly.

When PROFIX supplies the part, we take responsibility for making sure the correct component is ordered for your vehicle.

3. We Want to Warranty the Complete Repair

When we provide both the part and the labor, we can stand behind the entire repair. If there is a legitimate issue with a part we supplied, we can work directly with our supplier and address it under the applicable warranty.

We cannot provide that same protection for a part purchased elsewhere.

4. A Wrong or Defective Part Can Mean Paying for Labor Twice

If a customer-supplied part turns out to be incorrect, defective, damaged, or incompatible after our technician has already begun the repair, the labor performed still has to be paid for.

The vehicle may then have to remain apart while another part is located, or the technician may need to remove the supplied part and perform the repair again. That can create additional labor charges, delays, and frustration.

5. Our Name Is on the Completed Repair

When your vehicle leaves PROFIX Auto Repair, we want to be confident in the entire job. Our technicians stand behind their workmanship, and the parts installed are an important part of that responsibility.

It's About Protecting the Customer, Too

This policy helps prevent some of the most frustrating repair situations: incorrect parts, vehicles stuck apart waiting for replacements, unexpected additional labor, or failed parts with unclear warranty responsibility.

We'd rather provide one complete repair that we can properly stand behind.

Customer-Supplied Parts FAQ

Can I bring my own parts to PROFIX?

No. PROFIX Auto Repair only installs parts sourced through our approved suppliers.

What if I already purchased the part?

We can still inspect or diagnose your vehicle and provide an estimate using parts supplied by PROFIX, but we will not install the customer-purchased part.

What if the part is OEM or the exact same brand?

Our policy still applies. We need to verify the source, application, and warranty of the parts we install so we can stand behind the completed repair.

Why can't I simply waive the warranty?

Even with a warranty waiver, an incorrect or defective part can create additional labor, delays, and disputes over responsibility. Keeping parts and labor together makes the repair process much clearer for everyone.

Need an Estimate?

We're happy to help determine what your vehicle needs and provide an estimate using quality parts sourced specifically for your vehicle.
